Description
Flight of an Eagle: The Dreaming of Ruby Hammond by Margaret Forte
Pre-loved paperback in very good condition, Wakefield Press, 1995, 374pp
Ruby Hammond devoted her life to the Aboriginal struggle for equality and reconciliation, from the early days of the Council of Aboriginal Women and the Aboriginal Legal Rights Movement to the more recent Aboriginal Issues Unit of the national Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody. Ruby died of cancer in 1993 at age fifty-seven – this story of her life is also the story of Australia’s Aboriginal people.
